Mogadishu, Somalia – November 27, 2023
HIRDA, a humanitarian organization in partnership with UNICEF, delivered a new boat to the flood-affected Burdhubo district in the Gedo Region. The boat, with a capacity for 40 people and one ton of food, aims to facilitate essential transportation and aid distribution in the aftermath of the floods caused by the Jubba River.
This generous donation from UNICEF, a longstanding supporter of HIRDA’s initiatives in education, health, water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH), and nutrition, forms part of a broader relief effort for communities grappling with the impact of recent floods in Somalia.
The floods have inflicted widespread damage, displacing many and creating an urgent need for assistance. HIRDA is actively engaged in delivering crucial aid, encompassing food, water, shelter, and medical care, to address the immediate needs of those affected by this disaster.
Beyond the Burdhubo district, HIRDA is extending its relief efforts to the Bardheere district, another severely impacted area. The organization is steadfast in its commitment to aiding communities in their recovery by providing the necessary resources for rebuilding.
